Man Utd Faces £3m Bill to Lure Eddie Howe from Newcastle
27 October 2026
Manchester United is eyeing Eddie Howe as their next managerial appointment, but there's a catch—they’ll need to fork out approximately £3 million to Newcastle in compensation.
Michael Carrick is set to lead training on Tuesday, despite the pressure mounting after a dismal 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which extended their winless streak to eight games.
Howe has emerged as the top choice for the job, and sources indicate he’s eager for the opportunity. When he departed Newcastle in July, a deal was established regarding the remaining terms of his contract, making compensation inevitable if United comes calling.
Additionally, the Red Devils would have to compensate Newcastle for Howe’s coaching team, which includes his trusted assistant, Jason Tindall.
Meanwhile, Christopher Vivell, United’s director of recruitment, has been advocating for Julian Nagelsmann, the former coach of Germany and Bayern Munich, as another potential candidate for the managerial position.
