Mourinho's Magic: Real Madrid Triumphs Over Barcelona in Epic El Clasico
26 October 2026
Real Madrid is on a roll, racking up five wins in a row across all competitions.
Jose Mourinho has worked his magic once more. The Real Madrid manager celebrated Kylian Mbappe's late goal with an iconic knee slide, proving he still knows how to get under Barcelona’s skin.
Mourinho now joins an elite club, becoming only the third Real Madrid manager to go six El Clasicos without a defeat, a feat not seen since his previous tenure over a decade ago.
With four victories and two draws in his last six matches against Barcelona, he stands alongside legends like Miguel Munoz and Vicente del Bosque, both of whom also enjoyed success against their Catalan rivals.
This victory is especially sweet, marking only Real's second win in their last eight clashes with Barcelona, and it certainly adds to the pressure on the reigning champions.
Mbappe's double sealed a crucial 2-1 win at the Camp Nou, ending Barcelona's impressive nine-match unbeaten streak in the league. This result has shifted the dynamics at the top of La Liga, narrowing the gap to just three points between the two teams.
Mourinho remarked, "In my view, Real Madrid do not play to win at the Camp Nou, Real Madrid play to win La Liga." He emphasized that their win was not merely due to luck but rather a testament to their hard work and preparation.
He continued, "The credit goes to the players. When you win, it's their achievement. But when things go wrong, the blame falls on the coach, which is why we see so many managers get sacked."
Returning to Real after 13 years, Mourinho's record now stands at six wins and six losses in El Clasicos. He noted, "I've learned that I have an extraordinary group, with the quality and mindset to play."
Mourinho praised the blend of talents in midfield, stating that this diversity allows for better balance both defensively and offensively. "We've had some big wins recently, but this was against Barcelona, and the players delivered a fantastic performance. We need to keep our feet on the ground after this win."
On the other side, Barcelona’s coach Hansi Flick was reluctant to make excuses but acknowledged the toll of recent fixtures on his squad.
"We missed the freshness," he admitted. "Our players have had a tough time. We need to recover, train well, and bounce back from this loss."
He added, "In crucial matches, it's the little details that make the difference, and today, they didn't go our way. We need to find that spark again."
